Dear Sir or Madam,
After searching for academic institutions that provide bachelor level programmes on pop & jazz music and after gathering information from students and graduates from Codarts, I realised that your programme on both pop and jazz departments seems ideal for my next level of studies.
I was raised in a house full of music, as jazz, blues, rock and funk records were heard around the house oftenly. Classical music came to add more to my early music influences as I started taking classical guitar lessons from an early age. I then switched to bass when I was 12 years old and took my first double bass lessons at the age of 17.
I began performing from an early age and continued to do so after I was accepted by entrance examination to Ioannina University to study History & Archaeology. It wasn't long till I decided I wanted to fully focus on performing and writing music.
Since then, I 've been touring around Greece and Europe with various bands, most notably "Deep in the Top" band, in which I play bass and compose some of the songs.
While I continue my double bass studies at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, I decided to mainly focus on developing my skills on the electric bass in order to develope a unique sound and style.
Long before graduating from High School I dreamt of being a professional musician. As this dream stayed with me along the years, I realised that I had to take my skills to the next level. That's why I believe your bachelor programme will be the best chance for me to fulfill my ambition of becoming a professional bassist but also an accomplished songwriter.
I also see studying in Codarts as a perfect opportunity for me to get in touch with great teachers and with students from all over the world. Interacting with different cultures through this perfectly organized bachelor programme will help me get the diversity I want in my style of playing.
I strongly believe that living in a city like Rotterdam and studying music in your institution will fulfill my future life expectations and career ambitions.
I believe I would make a good fit at Codarts and I hope you will give me the opportunity to prove it during an audition.
